It's been quite the day. We got a bill from the IRS for over $1000, the last possible candidate for my maternity leave replacement declined (so no leave replacement for me), the babysitter we used with Henry and Harmony doesn't have any slots for infants this spring, and we found out about a very devisive issue brewing in our church.
And this was all before noon.
My first thought was, "I need a bomb shelter!" My second thought: "I have one--Jesus!"
Psalm 27:1-5, 14
The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.
Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
So this week, I'm thankful that God is our Rock and our salvation, a stronghold in the time of trouble.
I'm thankful that we have no reason to fear or be afraid--if God is for us, who can be against us?
I'm thankful that we can be confident that the Lord will be on our side, even in the midst of trial.
I'm thankful that waiting is worth it.

Some days are so difficult. I don't know how people do it without Jesus!
Praying tomorrow and the days to come are better!
Blessings!
Cheryl
Jesus my bomb shelter... I love the sound of that! And thanks for the verses of scripture. Stay blessed!

Oh Ann,
You just inspire me. Jesus is our bomb shelter. Just awesome.
Love you girl. Have a fantastic Thursday. I know you will. Hugs.
I am so with you on this! Without our "bomb shelter" we would truly struggle. Thank you for inspiring me!
God bless ~Chrissy
Bless you for being thankful through the hard times. I will be praying for you.
My teenage daughter would say He is the bomb. (It's a good thing) Your post made me think of Casting Crowns and their song from Psalms that says, "I lift my eyes unto the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord the maker of Heaven and earth."I'm praying that tomorrow is a much better day for you.
waiting is worth it... so true. God bless you, ann.
"we can be confident that the Lord will be on our side, even in the midst of trial." Amen to this! I am so thankful too we have Jesus. No matter how hard things can be, we can find our hope and help in Him. Praying for you and family that God will provide for your every need. It is encouraging to read of your thankful heart in the midst of difficulties. Thanks for sharing your thankful heart with us. May God bless and keep you in His love!
I'm sorry about all those things...but thankful the Holy Spirit wsa quick to remind you fo a safe place to take all those concerns. Praying for you in all those areas...
Lord, I lift up Ann to You today and ask that You would be her Rock and her Salvation. Bring someone along to give her maternity leave and provide good child care for this baby on the way. You care for Your children more than we could ever imagine, so You know the stress and concern weighing upon Ann's mind right now. Give her peace and confidence that You will take care of her kids AND her needs as well.
Thank you for the reminder :) Thanks for visiting my site today too... Blessings
"The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." Proverbs 18:10 is one of my FAVORITES. Yes we live in times where you never know what you will face from one minute to the next...BUT God. We have hope in Christ.
I TRULY enjoyed this thankful post! YEs----we need to all make certain our "Bomb Shelter" is fully EQUIPPED!!!
Amen sister!
I enjoyed this whole post, but my favorite line was: "My first thought was, "I need a bomb shelter!" My second thought: "I have one--Jesus!"
Nothing else for me to say!
Thank you so much for your post!
~Susan
I love Psalm 27 and cling to those words in every storm. I pray the storm passes quickly and that God provides not only the shelter that you need, but the answers to your questions.
