Mail crossing

I sent my grandmother a care package of Christmas cookies and candy last week--she didn't get it before she passed away. Meanwhile, she mailed us a check to shop for Christmas presents for ourselves--it arrived yesterday. I want to get the kids something they can keep to remember her. Any suggestions? I was thinking of a locket or cross necklace for Harmony, but I don't have any ideas for Henry...

I do not know how much they cost... but a pocket watch could be cool.

He's probably too young for a wallet, huh? What about a "treasure box," one of those nice, lined, carved, wooden ones with a cross or fish on top. He could keep special keepsakes in it or you could find a way to put a small picture of your g'ma inside. Emma really loves her jewelry box and it's totally off limits to the other kids. She keeps all sorts of treasures in it. I guess I was thinking of the treasure of your g'ma, treasure of Jesus...something like that?

I like the locket/cross idea. That is something that they could always change the chain & have as they grow.

How's about an engraved dog tag? You can get them on sturdy chains, and you can put it away till he's old enough. Then he'll always have a piece of her.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I like the treasure chest idea but you could also buy an ornament. Something that comemorated an interest of hers. I don't know how old Henry is but a New Testament engraved to him from her would be something he'd have all his life. You could glue a picture of her and him inside.

I like the idea of a bible. I had the same bible for over 20 years. I could find any book in a flash, and had notes written all over the place. It became one of my best friends and I'm still mourning the fact that it "died" last year.
I like Mama Bear's idea of gluing a picture of grandma into the cover too....
